On January 1st I woke up, got on the scale and was shocked to see that the little red hand was pointing to 224 pounds! I didn’t need to check my BMI scale to know that was a good bit too much for a six-foot-tall man. (I would later check and see that I was actually in the Obese category! I knew I needed to lose a few pounds but would never have thought of myself as obese!)

So I’m a doctor. I know how this body works and to lose some weight I’ll simply start eating better and exercising more. And some weeks that worked pretty good and other weeks, not so much.

Months went by and the scale had inched down a few notches but not much. My plan was not working as planned! So I started thinking that I might need a little more of a plan. I mean, “eat right and exercise” is good advice but it doesn’t give much direction.

As I began to research the seemingly endless numbers of weight-loss methods, plans, and ideas, I began to focus in on the ones that really work with your body in a way that gets rid of fat (not just water weight) in a healthy way that allows you to keep the weight off.

What is the answer?

The best way to accomplish this fat burning is a process called ketosis.
